In the Noodle (WIP)
In the Noodle (WIP)* is a multidisciplinary performance celebrating Fuzhounese culture through contemporary dance, visuals, original music, and text, inspired by the tradition and culture of longevity noodles. Fuzhou, known as the Banyan City, is my hometown and a key origin of Chinese immigrants in the U.S. Longevity noodles symbolize love, care, and vitality. Featuring four dancers and projection designer Qixing Zhang, the piece transforms movement into elongated, fluid visuals mirroring the noodle’s form. Live and recorded text, drawn from my research, deepens the narrative. During this residency, I will develop movement vocabularies exploring elongation, elasticity, and fluidity, integrating text, sound, projection design, and set design to create a dynamic, immersive storytelling experience.
*The piece will be further developed into a full piece in the near future.
